Outdoor Knife P1006 - Black / Orange

Important safety notice for fixed blade knives in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of fixed blade knives. Due to the sharp blade, fixed construction, carrying in a sheath, and use in the field, it is essential to follow the instructions below to avoid injuries and damage. The notice is issued based on the requirements of the European Parliament and Council Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety.

Basic safety and handling principles

• Keep out of reach of children: The knife is not a toy; there is a risk of cuts or punctures.
• Sheath and carrying: Always carry the knife in a secured sheath; when drawing and inserting, keep fingers away from the blade edge and point the tip away from the body.
• Inspection before use: Check the integrity of the blade, handle, guard, rivets, and sheath. Do not use a damaged or loose knife.
• Safe workspace: Cut on a stable surface, away from the body and other people; never try to catch a falling knife.
• Respect local rules: When carrying the knife, comply with local laws and restrictions.

Proper and safe use

• Use as intended: Designed for cutting suitable materials (food, wood, ropes). Do not use for prying, screwing, nailing, as a hammer, or chisel.
• Grip and cutting direction: Hold a firm grip; keep fingers out of the blade’s path. When carving, support the material and work in a controlled manner.
• Batoning and chopping: Perform only with knives designed for this and with proper technique; avoid contact with stone and metal. Do not use a damaged knife.
• Contact with food: After use on raw food, clean the knife immediately to prevent cross-contamination.

Cleaning, maintenance, and storage

• Cleaning: Wash by hand with mild detergent and dry immediately; do not place the knife or sheath in the dishwasher.
• Maintenance: Regularly sharpen and lightly oil the blade; check and tighten screws, treat wooden and leather parts according to the material.
• Storage: Store clean and dry, preferably outside the sheath for long-term storage, in a safe place out of children’s reach.
• Sheath: Keep clean and dry; replace damaged sheaths to prevent the knife from accidentally falling out.

Specific health warnings

• Injuries: If cut, stop work, clean and treat the wound; seek medical help for deep or bleeding injuries.
• Allergies and sensitive skin: Some alloys and maintenance oils may cause reactions; discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Disposal

• Safe disposal: Wrap dull or damaged knives in sturdy material (e.g., cardboard, blade protector) and dispose of according to local metal regulations to prevent injuries.

Incidents and contact

• In case of an incident (injury or other damage), stop using the product immediately. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint processing.
