This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of pocket watches (mechanical/automatic, quartz battery-powered, with chain/“albert chain”, with cover – hunter/demi-hunter or without cover). Since they contain glass, small parts, a chain, and possibly a battery/electronics, please follow the instructions below.

Basic Safety and Handling Principles

• Keep out of reach of children: Small parts, glass, and detachable chain pose a risk of swallowing or injury; the product is not a toy.
• Glass and cover: Do not wear the watch if the glass is cracked or the cover hinge is loose; there is a risk of cuts and damage to the movement.
• Chain and pinching: Be careful not to pinch fingers in the cover; do not wrap the chain around the neck or attach it to loose threads of clothing.
• Water and dust: Most pocket watches are not waterproof; protect from moisture, rain, and dust.
• Magnetic fields: Strong magnets can affect the accuracy of the mechanics and the casing; keep away from magnetic clasps and speakers.

Proper and Safe Use

• Attaching the chain: Fasten it to a sturdy buttonhole of a vest, trousers, or belt; store the watch in a separate pocket without keys or coins to avoid scratches.
• Winding and setting: Wind gently once daily at the same time; do not operate the crown/manual under rain or in damp conditions.
• Impacts and temperature: Protect from drops, vibrations, and extreme temperatures; do not place in direct sunlight or on radiators.
• Quartz models: Replace the battery promptly when it weakens; do not use the watch if the battery leaks or swells.

Cleaning, Maintenance, and Storage

• Cleaning: Wipe the case with a soft dry cloth; do not use aggressive cleaners or acetone. After contact with salty moisture, rinse the surface with a damp cloth and dry.
• Service: Have mechanical watches serviced regularly (lubrication/cleaning as per manufacturer’s recommendations); entrust repairs to professional service centers.
• Storage: Store in a case or fabric pouch, in a dry place away from magnetic sources; when not in use for a long time, store with the dial facing upwards.

Specific Health Warnings

• Allergies and skin: Some metals (e.g., nickel) and surface finishes may cause reactions; if redness or itching occurs, limit skin contact and seek a suitable case/chain.
• Weight and clothing: Heavier models may stretch thin pockets; choose secure attachment and appropriate clothing.

Disposal

• Ecological disposal: Do not dispose of batteries and electronic parts in municipal waste; hand them over to an electronic waste collection point. Sort metal and plastic parts according to local regulations.
